1. Biggest Hotel in the World
In least in terms of the number of rooms, the First World Hotel and Plaza in Malaysia is officially the largest in the world, currently holding the Guinness World Record. This multi-coloured hotel is in Genting Highlands, a resort in Pahang in Malaysia. It boasts a stunning total of 3, 751 rooms over 28 floors.
2. Tallest Hotel in the World
The JW Marriott Marquis Dubai is the tallest hotel in the world, at least for now. With Dubai being home to more than 50% of the world’s tallest hotels, it might not be long before someone catches up given the city’s proclivity for mighty architecture. The JW Marriott is 355 metres tall and consists of 76 stories in total.
3. The Biggest Resort Pool in the World
Currently the largest outdoor pool in the world, the Crystal Lagoon swimming pool at San Alfonso del Mar in Chile contains 66 million gallons of water. It is so large it can be used for sailing boats. In total it is the size of 20 Olympic swimming pools. The pool opened back in 2006 and is said to have cost the developers £2m.
4. Most Luxurious Hotel in the World
This is a dubious category, as many hotels claim this title. With its subjective quality its inevitable that some debate is to be had about the actual winner. It is widely considered however, that the Burj Al Arab Jumeirah is the victor in this case. With a currently unique 7* rating (yes, seven) it is an exceptional destination. The hotel notes that its ration of staff to suite is 8:1, so you’ll have staff at your beck and call. The hotel offers the opportunity to arrive by helicopter to sample the sites of the city and the hotel’s unique Wave shaped structure.
5. Most Expensive Hotel Room in the World
According Soegjobs.com, the most expensive hotel room in the world is considered to be the Royal Penthouse Suite of Hotel President Wilson in Geneva in Switzerland. Geneva has a reputation as being one of the most expensive cities in the world, and a penthouse suit in a luxury hotel was always going to be pricey. The $84,000 price tag might put a few people off though.
6. Best Hotel Aquarium
It wasn’t so long that the very idea of having a hotel with an Aquarium would have been ludicrous. Again there are a few candidates for this title, and ‘best’ is hard to define, but one candidate stands above the rest. Controversially, the Atlantis Hotel Aquarium had previously featured a young whale shark known as Sammy, which was released after concern was raised by environmentalists about the welfare is this endangered creature. There is still an abundance of astonishing aquatic life on offer at the Atlantis. The Hotel offers several ways to enjoy the aquarium, from scuba diving, snorkelling, yoga and incorporating the aquarium into several of the water park rides.
